CRESCO SIDING, COLORADO  *  1880 - Location - CO, NM Pictured in story of  the San Juan extension of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad  which was built in 1880 and had plenty of business – hauling ore, coal, oil, passengers, timber and livestock from the San Juan to the junction at Alamosa at a time when there was some doubt whether you could take a Moonlight Special to Tanglefoot Curve, Windy Point, the Whiplash through the Mad Tunnel. This is the history of how the narrow gauge survived as found in this old western magazine.
